Will be taking my 9 year old our for his first youth season…He has just about shot me out of all my extra ammo getting ready as well as marked kill shots on all of the deer in my old hunting magazines….Hoping his hard work pays off…

My BIL and 13 year old nephew will also be going out for their first hunt…Neither have ever been deer hunting, so this might be very interesting…My FIL was a state certified instructor of firearms so I am not worried about safety or that end of the hunt…Just the what do we do, do next kinda thing…I have explained that it is just a sit and wait kinda game…BIL is not overly excited about getting up in a tree stand, but with the corn not being out around the woods we hunt there are not many good options for ground blinds…A lot of honeysuckle and ground cover this time of year except for where I have stands and lanes cut…

As for getting out with the bow myself, only spent 2 hours in the stand last sunday with my 6 year old…Had 2 buttons and a yearling down under us for almost an hour…He tried his best to talk me into shooting one of them…I think he is the one that is going to be spending the hours in the woods when he get a little older…

Good luck to everyone and BE SAFE!!!

I have no kids to take and my little brother is too old to youth hunt now. He is one of my regular bow hunting buddies, and I like to think I taught him a lot when he was younger. I will be hitting the woods with my bow by myself. Good luck to all the kids and of course, be safe!

Cool deal freaks!  One of my hunting buddies took his daughter out on the farm I hunt and got themselves a little buck too. To bad it wasn’t the booner, but she was pumped.

Had a small spike last night but couldn’t get a clean shot… Got this button this morning just after 8.. Made a great shot and tracked him himself…

I sat with my son on Saturday morning and saw a few and made him pass on a yearling that was out of his range.  (he was mad).  Sunday morn I sat with my daughter and the morning was slow until the sun came up and he wind started picking up.  Then everything started moving.  Got busted by a fork behind our stand earlier and then this old dude came in down wind of us.  He smelled us and then turned to start leaving when she let the smoke roll.

Thanks for the congrats..

Also congrats to all the mentors that took a child to the woods to share something we are all so passionate about…The hunt is truly about the story and memories made…I know we made plenty this last weekend…
