If you are lucky enough to be able to go out and enjoy opening morning…many like me are jealous.  Please send pics of any success stories, missed shots, encounters, etc.  I don’t want to speak for everyone…but I know I there must be others that would like to hear about your well spent time in the woods today.  Thanks and good luck!!  And please be safe…

My buddy was nice enough to take me out to his property. We saw a pair of Boone and Crocket squirrels but that was it. Going to give it another try tomorrow!

I was able to get out for a couple of hours and it was glorious!  I saw a beautiful red coated coyote that played and lounged about 125 yards from me for the first hour.  Her friend came by looking for her about 5 minutes after she moved on…then a small doe or button trailed in behind them.  Other than that it was me and the squirrel who was hellbent on getting in my tree and I had to threaten him with a Swhacker more than one… smile

Not allot moving but I think I cold have sat there all day…

Slow day in Lee County this morning.  Neither me nor a buddy of mine saw any deer.  Aggressive squirrels seem to be the story of the day.  I had 3 sandhills fly over and startle me with their calls.

Sounds like the Allerton killing contest to me.  That’s really sad what they’ve done to that place.  A killing contest

I went by one of Jimmy Johns property and there was a corvette parked there hunting. Nice to see a guy out there that obviously cant afford both a corvette AND a truck. Made me feel good to know the average guy can still afford to hunt.

What is the real story with this Jimmy Johns guy? I have heard you mention him, but never heard the whole story?  Just some rich dude that bought up all the good hunting land and now everyone is jealous of him?

Shot a yearling doe last night that came by with another arrow in her.  She would have lived from the shot but died from infection eventually.  Arrow went down by her spine and out her side about 6 inches later.  Smallest deer I have ever killed but I didn’t want her to suffer in the future.  Saw quite a few small bucks as well.

Bassfishn13- nice job on the yearling. Doesn’t matter the size, you knew it was the right thing to do. Kudos to you

After 5 years of bow hunting I finally bagged my first deer on Monday. One of my friends put me in a stand that had been seeing action and I got very lucky! She came down the trail at 6pm and gave me a 10 yd broadside shot and only made it another 15. Needless to say I’m thrilled.

Thanks! I’d be lying if I said the first 4 seasons weren’t frustrating but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. I’ve definately got a lot of cooking to do which is great. That’s good eating for sure!
