Tomorrow is the first day you can set stands on public land for the season.  Anybody else planning to do it?  I’m sure this seems late for all you private land hunters, but that’s the rule on public.  I hope to get 2 up tomorrow, but they are forecasting rain and thunderstorms in the north part of the state tomorrow, so I guess I’ll wait and hope it’s not too bad.  Supposed to start later in the day, I think (noon-ish).

How did the stand hanging go Murdy?  I hunt public too.  Going this weekend.  Hope the ticks are all taking naps or something.  I hate those creepy little suckers!

Got one ladder up, started raining hard on my way out, so called it a day.  I didn’t notice any ticks (and wasn’t wearing any deet), but its probably been a bit cooler up here.  I’m going to try to get one more out before the season opens, but it’s an hour drive to where I hunt early season and we have out of town company this weekend.

Arrrgghhh, Got out this afternoon to put up a stand.  It’s an older stand, and newer ones are constructed slightly differently.  Forgot 2 pieces of hardware (which I wouldn’t have needed with a newer model).  Got the stand up, but had to leave one ladder section out, so its only about 9 feet off the ground.  Will have to drop it and add the 3rd section after my first hunt maybe.
