Once again hear from state , ph forever ,crp, dnr and locals don’t mow roadside ditches till Aug. Then here comes mowers state, county , township and farmers ,who will complain about the price of gas to mow. With all the herbicides aint a weed could grow in a field anyhow. Then all my neighbors seem to want to live on a golf course, this is in a rural area, they even mow mine, as if they don’t think I could. No wonder we don’t see as much game, no place to live.

Joe, I still stay taking away fenceline cover, and people clearing brush on their farms ruined our quail #s….Back in the 80s we had quail everywhere, now you hardly see them at all…..

when the price of beans and corn go up that row or two is worth more , with factory farms that is increasing bottom line, just like a company moving jobs overseas. Conservation is just going to lose everytime

Agree…in spite of trying to get quail back on my farm, they dont show up. I actually have considerably more “quail habitat” than when i purchased the farm 15 yrs ago (when there was quail here, but not real abundant). I put 30 acres in crep, put an additional 28 acres in food plots of good quail cover and food, created numerous (guessing 30 or so) huge brush piles, put in a pond and a lake, leave acres of grass and weeds, planted over 2500 evergreens, and literally “busted my a**) to bring them back. No luck!

However, the deer and turkey are abundant year round so guess its not a total loss….
