Really?  I have another firestarter, possiby nutting stone, that I have found in this general area before as well.  Its hole was a lot different though.  Maybe this one didn’t get used nearly as long?

Thanks guys.  Its funny to, every time I go hunting, I find something that I’m not looking for.  That’s no mushroom or antler, I know that much!

I would have been a horrible Indian.  There have been times when it took me a half hour to start a fire with a stack of dry wood, a lighter, and newspaper.

MOSSY….I’m guessing just a bigger rock…or a bigger hole in your rock.  Not sure.  I figured that rock with a hole in it was how indians tested if they were left eye or right eye dominant.

I don’t think that is an artifact. Looks like an omar. Here is an address for more info on omars-  http://www.isgs.uiuc.edu/research/glacial-geology/omars.shtml

Welcome bede.  I see your comparison.  I am sure omars get confused as firestarters all the time.  Probably more often then real firestarters.  Personally with a hole that defined inside of a broken depression, looks man made to me.  That is a good point tho.
