sooooooooooo….....any finds yet in the great state of Illinois???????....I hit the woods hard today and although no mushrooms( as expected) things are looking up for this season…all the undergrowth seems average and the trees are budding quite well, only a moments notice and im sure central IL will be in full swing mushroom season! I am hoping that there will be a possibility of greys by friday, maybe sooner…...maybe…., how bout’ the rest of my fellow shroomers?..any predictions as to when your neck of the woods will be “popping”!

I agree with you WTF, temps are up with rain most of the week. Had about 20 asparugus pop through early last week, thought I would have a fresh batch this wk-end but the weather cooled and they only grew a few more inches the whole week. I think they grew more yesterday than they did all of last week. Hope I get my turkey Sat. or Sun. because I am on vacation all next week then I can schroom hunt and fish all week, but then there is nothing wrong with turkey hunting then schroomin or fishin either.

I haven’t seen anything yet but the years my allergies have been bad the mushroom season has been awesome.  Well this year should be super great because my allergies have been bad for several weeks now.  I say just add a little warmth and it should be on.

I agree with bigman, runny nose and sneezing = Mushrooms! Just went today here in Vermilion county and got blanked. By the looks of the greenery on the woods floor, i still say about a week or so away…

It shouldn’t be too much longer before they start popping up. I’m already adjusting my diet accordingly to compensate for the weeks of butter soaked morels I plan on eating!

Seriously, this is a great time of the year!!!  Shrooms and gobblers!!!  The crappy thing up in NW IL is the 10 day forecast barely breaks highs in the 60’s, mostly highs in the 40’s and 50’s.  That wont quite do it as far as shrooms, oh well, spread out the fun.  Turks first and then frying shrooms, wooooohooooo!!!

Did a little bit of looking on Saturday and didn’t find a single one. Will probably wait until next weekend to try again.

What a difference a year makes as mushrooms were totally finished by this time last year in our area…
