Someone earlier hit the nail on the head, the hunting shows are no more than an infomercial for the gear and/or outfitter being used. The ones tha get my goat are the holierthanthou fellas that pimp themselves as some great hunter and their techniques are best (so buy their books and videos).
The reality? They are successful based on the same luck and equipment types you and I use, but it’s enhanced by privileged access to well managed properties upon which they and or the outfitter spend their working day improving and running camera and hanging stands…they have the ability to live it as they are paid to do it. Something you and I don’t really have unless we neglect other responsibilities in our lives…
The comment on naming them gave me a chuckle though. I have to admit guilt to doing the same. NOT because I think I own the deer or only I have the ability or right to kill it…more because the thing shows up on my cameras allot and looks like a deer I would shoot if lucky enough to be I the same 40 yard circle as him some day. And, I find it fun to take a deer I have pictures of…especially if I have pictures over a few years. How can you not name it so you and your buddies know the exact deer you saw at 100 yards on a certain day?
I think it is good to point out that commercial hunting shows are not reality based to what us average joes are able to do in allot of cases. BUT, we have to be careful what and how we ridecule these celeb hunters as the ridecule could be turned against us. We aren’t all that different…
