I just happened to look online to see what deer permits were available in my area for the firearm season.  I could not believe the amount of doe only permits still available for the state, 38050 to be exact.  I’m not sure about the rest of you but I can’t imagine what our deer hunting would be like if they issued and that many more does were killed.  I’m sure the DNR and Govenors office is only thinking about the $570k they would get from the permits if sold and could care less about the future of our hunting.  With the lack of deer I have been seeing in Williamson county I think a serious discussion about the total number of deer that one person can shoot needs to take place.

Oh great, my county (knox) is the only one that doesn’t have a surplus of permits.  My kids won’t get to hunt.  They will have to wait until ML season or Doe Only seasons.

I guess you could say I’m doing my part and sitting this year out. Archery and Firearms seasons just are not working out for me. No time. So there are 2 unused permits donated to the state (and one less body you all have to worry about in the field). I’ve been hunting vicariously through all you HO’ers this year. Keep em coming and good luck!
