Well I got out and tried to get a couple of pictures…I pretty much decided my 250mm lens wasn’t big enough to make it worth while, so no pictures from me…

I will say I did learn some new things with my camera….I started out with the setting G stated and the photos were very dark…I played with shutter and F-stop and got to where I could get an okay picture, but after viewing on the computer there was little to no detail…Just more or less the same moon you see with your eyes…I NEED a TELEPHOTO LENS!!!!!

I usually use my 400 on the moon shots, and put it on cropped sensor body just to get even more reach.. It’s hard without at least a 300mm lens.. although if you are using a cropped sensor body, you do get that extra reach ( figure 1.6 x the focal length of the lens to give you the effective focal length) - I was beset with cloud cover all three nights when it was really big and bright, so sadly I have zip to share :(

Went back though my photos and found one that after blowing up and cropping is not as bad as I thought…

Am going to do some more work to see if I can get some more detail…

This is the best I can get it…Shows a little detail, but nothing like I want or was expecting!!!

I am buying a bigger lens!!!

Thanks T… Kinda went through fast and thought I wasted my time, but when you slow down and look at the whole picture they might not be as bad as you thouhgt!!!

This was the best I could get.  The haze made it difficult to get a great shot, but it isn’t too bad.  Last year’s was much better.

Okay Heartland friends - here’s the place to share those great moon photos we are all hoping for over the next couple of days!

Captured this 7/4/12 after I got home from taking some fireworks photos.
