How will this early spring and high temps effect the breeding cycle of turkeys and most other spring breeders.  I am guessing its going to push everything up the calender a bit but I am probably wrong.  If it does push things up a bit, how will that effect turkey hunters in the later seasons.  Will a lot of hens already be nesting?

I don’t really know.  I’d suspect that, like deer, photoperiod has something to do with a turkey’s schedule, and that is not changing.

I haven’t been out enough to see if the birds are moving much.  For my boy’s sake, I’d live to get in a good youth hunt, rare due to the timing of it.  This weather may be just the trick to get them workable at that early date.

However, I always go for seasons 4 and 5 knowing that if I have any Toms around at all, there is a better than good chance I will score during one of those weeks.  So it will remain to be seen what things look like a month from now.

Why can’t they open up just one season for 6 weeks and issue permits by county?  I hate this set up.

I have been out early every morning, and still not hearing any gobbling.

JRN-  I’m in the same boat.  I haven’t heard any gobbling yet but I have seen lots of turkeys.  Hopefully soon.

My buddy had the day off yesterday and went out in his timber at daybreak and he said they were gobbling all over.
