Nice shots! Always great to see more bird pics here.

Just a note though, pretty sure that first one is a Red-tail, not a Rough-legged.

i could be wrong, but a friend of mine who is a wildlife biologist agreed that it was a rough legged, and besides, since when do red-tails have a white-ish head?

Not trying to criticize, hope I am not coming off that way. Just trying to help.

Red-tailed Hawks can be highly variable. Check out this post on the Illinois Birders Forum. It has nice pics of a Rough-legged Hawk, and also pics of an adult light-morph harlan’s Red-tail that has a white head and tail. http://www.ilbirds.com/index.php?topic=49889.0 Rough-legged Hawks are dark in the lower belly. In that post you can see that the Rough-leg looks like it is wearing dark granny panties, and your bird has a white lower belly. Also the pattern and placement of the breast streaking on your bird is indicative of a Red-tail. Lastly note that the tail on your bird is clearly longer than it’s wings, a Rough-legs wings project as long or longer than the tail.

You should really check out that web site I linked to if you are into birds here in Illinois. Some helpful people there. Can’t wait to see more of your pics.
