Here lately there have not been any weekly IL fishing reports.  Has this been discontinued on the homepage?

i stopped doing my SW IL reports due to the time it took and the lack of responses/ interest. it takes a ton of time every week to talk to the local people on each lake , gather a report, type it up etc…  also alot of time and phone calls ., if the readers dont show any interest or appriciation then theres no point of me giving reports/tactics and hotspots up for free .im just guessing but jeffs reasons are probly the same.
another reason is that fishing reports change from day to day and one from 2 days ago can be completly useless most of the time.

if anyone is interested in an up to date report feel free to email me i would more than glad to send you the most updated one i got

Not talking about yours Josh but I always did read them.  I am refering to the statewide report listed each week on the main homepage.  It seems now we are getting Iowas and other states but not ours.  I guess to show appreciation I should send you guys birthday and christmas cards.

thats why i stated that i was guessing that Jeffs reasons were prob along the same lines as mine unless im way off.  the Missouri reports and Iowa ones can be copy and pasted easily but you have to gather all the info for the illinois ones. with all the lakes/rivers and all the baitshops/people you have to call it can become quite tedious at times.  i blog for free so if you are sending out x-mas and b-day cards with money send me a private message and ill send you my address!

I know most of the bloggers here are volunteers, and most of us don’t say thanks often enough.  So, thanks, Josh, and thanks everyone else.
That said, I think it’s a mistake not to have a state-wide fishing report.  There are a few websites I visit only because they have a fishing report, so I’m sure it would keep traffic up (which, of course, is vital if this site is to sell advertising and survive).  Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Murdy, i totally agree with your comments. it would be nice to see a weekly fishing reports as well and your comments about traffic are dead on.  i also enjoy reading reports about my old fishing haunts as well ,and to see whats biting state wide is nice, even though i havent been able to get out much because of work.
i enjoy writing and sharing my blogs with people and talking anykind of hunting and fishing with anyone is what i love, i can do it all day long, but putting in long hours for free just dont make much sense.

I like reading the fishing reports myself also, but if it takes time out of your fishin & family time that is not fare to you & others. These sites are pretty well watched, if I was going over Josh’s way fishin, I would make a post seeing what, when and on what was biting and get a reply and I think that would happen all from pretty much anywhere.

Bottom line guys is always the same. Greenbacks. Time. We have a report today. And I want one every week. But all things take time. My hope is that in a few years we have a killer, weekly fishing report with pictures and up-to-the-minute reports. It’s a great goal.
