My son and I went out Sunday and cut shooting lanes for 6 different stands, it was hot, he wanted to know why we do it in the summer I told him most of the growth of the trees is done for the year and a wise old buck would smell you and your chainsaw if you wait to long,  get er done fellas it’s time.

Just finally put out a few cams where I hunt and trimmed some shooting lanes as well.  I hunt a very limited area on a buddy’s farm, so it becomes very easy to pattern the herd.  Corn this year, so it bottlenecks them right to me most of the time :D

Fortunately or (unfortunately, sometimes), my chance at a mature buck with a bow is actually early season and not during the rut.  When the fields get pulled, the deer cross wherever they want to.  Good thing slug guns/ammo got some reach on them nowadays.  Usually I can at least get my freezer filled during shotgun season.

Good luck this season, fellas!

Freak,  only pulled my cards on trail cams once. been up a month and every time I have been out I have been sweating so I stay away from camera sites, did get a nice buck picture at 830 am and got some fawns,  but just as many coyote pics.
