I am one happy man right now.  I won’t go into the whole story, but you can google Illinois Concealed Carry and find the story all over the net.

I remain cautiously optimistic.  The Chicago machine is crafty, and if you read the article from the Chicago Tribune you will see they are already scheming on how they can skirt it.  There are quotes from some northern legislators that show their idiocy when it comes to conceal carry.

“The justices more or less said Illinois has a mandate to get something passed within 180 days… to pass a concealed-carry law in the state of Illinois,” said Phelps, a Democrat from Downstate Harrisburg.

Now that’s more like it….unfortunately this is what Mayor Rahm Emanuel had to say:
Mayor Rahm Emanuel said through a spokesman that he was “disappointed with the court’s decision.” The city is reviewing the opinion and will work with others “to best protect the residents of Chicago and still meet constitutional restrictions,” Bill McCaffrey added.

and now Gov Pat Quinns office:
A spokeswoman for Gov. Pat Quinn said the administration is reviewing the decision. The governor has previously said he was firmly opposed to any law allowing citizens to carry loaded guns in public. He threatened to veto previous attempts by lawmakers to pass legislation allowing concealed carry in Illinois.

I get he is concerned for his city but whats obvious is that its Chicago that everyone is concerned with…im sick of it. It’s not like Illinois would be a pioneer state to pass this bill not knowing what to expect. Every other state has passed it and there hasnt been mass chaos in those states in which there is a “law allowing citizens to carry loaded guns in public” I guess he thinks every citizen in this state is as corrupt and crooked as the past governers and the states politics in general. Is it possible for Illinois to get with the program on at least one thing?

Andy believe it or not I AM GLAD TO FIND COMMON GROUND! Although I personally do not feel a need to concealed carry, I do NOT think my second amendment should be taken from me or my fellow citezens!. It is our constitutional right to do so! A victory for OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS! How are gun laws working out in Chicago???

Does this mean you can now shoot someone in self defense outside of your house or residence?  Or just that it’s legal to carry your gun?

I am sure they will not be allowed in any school or gov facility.  You will start seeing the “no gun” sign on the front door of a lot of public facilities like stores and restaurants.  My previous employer had the “no gun” sign on all the doors.  The company was based in Texas and they put the stickers on all their doors.  I thought it was funny to have it in IL.

Like anything else, there will be restrictions and measures put in. I can imagine some severe restrictions actually, but those are probably going to be for the best. Especially if there’s one for gymnasiums, sporting events etc…i used to coach little league baseball and I saw first hand how unruly parents can get hahaha. Regardless, its a step in the right direction. It will be interesting to see what restricitons go in place.
