I found this guy from last year in a bunch of willows.  Another thing I saw yesterday that I have never seen before was 6 owls “flushed ” from the ground in the same area.  I never knew that owls would stay on the ground and especially not in a group.  That seems very strange.

Maybe these owls were hybrid owl-quail mixes?

Since we are being proper/technical, a group of owls would be a parliament…

Cool find Hornet! I came across a show on Sportsman’s Channel the other day and your picture made me think of it. It was called Skull Bound TV and the lady that hosts it does some amazing stuff with skulls of any kind. (Deer, bear, buffalo, you name it.) She paints them, decorates with beads and even wraps them with pheasant pelts or similar bird pelts. Fantastic artisitc ability. Normally I am not a fan of too many of those shows but hers was pretty cool and spent a lot of time talking about conservation. That was refreshing. Here are the links showing her work and I assume you could just google the TV show if you wanted to see more about that. http://www.paintedskulls.com/

Again- Congrats on a cool find.
